Burn Baby burn

Burn Baby Burn - Disco Inferno in Redmond

This game is set in a horrifying near-future world, after the conclusion of the Microsoft court case.

The court orders Microsoft to split into 2 companies, at which point MS immediately appeals to the Court of Appeals.

In a shock move, Microsoft volunteers to spilt themselves into 2 companies - Microsheit (Responsible for Explorer & Integrated OS's), and Microshat (Responsible for Applications). The result is that the Court of Appeals immediately dismisses all further actions against the company (err .. companies that is).

Gates and friends then appear smugly on TV and announce a new era of innovation.

Circus Linux

"Circus Linux!" is a clone of the Atari 2600 game "Circus Atari," produced by Atari, Inc. (which is itself a clone of an earlier arcade game named, simply "Circus")

The object is to move a teeter-totter back and forth across the screen to bounce clowns up into the air. When they reach the top, they pop rows of balloons and then fall back down.

(The gameplay is similar to the classics "Breakout" and "Arkanoid.")

Clanbomber

ClanBomber is a free (GPL) Bomberman-like multiplayer game that uses ClanLib, a free multi platform C++ game SDK. First "ClanBomber" was only a working title for a small game started in September 1998, that has only been started to learn how to use ClanLib. But the ClanBomber project has grown into a real game. It is fully playable and features Computer controlled bombers, however, it is recommended to play ClanBomber with friends (3-8 players are really fun).

Ultima 7, an RPG from the early 1990's, still has a huge following. But, being a DOS game with a very non-standard memory manager, it is difficult to run it on the latest computers. Exult is a project to create an Ultima 7 game engine that runs on modern operating systems, capable of using the data and graphics files that come with the game.

Final battle

Final Battle is a multiplayer space game for the X Window System. You fly around a sector of space trying to destroy all of the other players. In the meantime, you can gather special weapons and ship upgrades by blasting asteroids. Watch out though. Like you, the other players can get some pretty mean upgrades.

Finger Poken

GFingerPoken is a BlackBox-type game written in C with graphics in POV-Ray. It uses GTK+ 1.2 or higher and is based on an old MS Windows shareware game called Marble. The graphics and gameplay are top-notch. There are nighttime and fog options, both of which make the game more challenging. You can really make Tux fly when you slide over ice, or slow to a halt on rocks.

The game also features a soundtrack and an option for ajoystick, if you have SDL installed.

You'll need a fast 3D card with hardware acceleration for this game. Happy racing!
